The Family Advisory Council (FAC) advises Feeding Matters and the PFD Alliance on better serving families affected by pediatric feeding disorder (PFD), offering input on policies, programs, and strategy. FAC members bring diverse experiences and represent the broad range of families impacted by PFD.

I bet you didn't know that:
  • 1 in 37 children under age 5 in the U.S. are diagnosed with PFD annually.
  • The prevalence of PFD in young children exceeds that of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which is about 1 in 59 children
  • Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) is impaired oral intake that is not age-appropriate and is associated with medical, nutritional, feeding skill, and/or psychosocial dysfunction
  • PFD is not picky eating
  • ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) is classified by the DSM-5 (which is where all mental disorders are classified) as an eating disorder
  • ARFID is not picky eating
  • Learn more at feedingmatters.org about the PFD/ARFID overlap
