Help children with pediatric feeding disorder
Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) is a serious and complex condition that affects many infants and children. It's when a child struggles to eat appropriately for their age, often due to dysfunction in the medical, feeding skill, nutrition, and psychosocial domains. It's a challenging condition for professionals to identify and treat, and it can be devastating for children and families.
Feeding Matters is a national and international organization dedicated to advancing the field of PFD. We work collaboratively with medical professionals and families to create a better system of care for children with PFD. Our team is focused and steadfast in our approach, and we approach everything from our values of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion. We work on an issue that continuously gets dismissed, with families and children told it's in their head and that they'll grow out of it, we have an incredible team and amazing volunteers and a global community dedicated to our vision of creating a world where children with pfd will thrive. We steward our funds to ensure we can be there for families, provide tools and education for professionals, and have the greatest impact to advance the PFD field.
Here is a little more about my personal "why"...
When Dean arrived into this world he had difficulties with breathing and eating. He had a NG tube for a few days before he transitioned to eating orally. Although he was able to breastfeed and take formula from the bottle we had to continually work through the speed bumps. Ups and downs with weight gain, longer feeding and different positioning and the constant worry that he will end up back in the hospital.
What has helped me throughout the last 8 months has been the knowledge and resources from Feeding Matters along with the support from the feeding community. All of this gave me the confidence to have informed discussions with our medical team, follow up with the appropriate specialists and continue the conversation around feeding with my loved ones.
Please join me in spreading awareness of pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) so that children are identified early and families do not have to face this battle alone.
You donation any amount will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Feeding Matters.
